After last year's bruising presidential contest, I'm reluctant to talk about elections in this column. However, the BSCL's annual election is fast approaching. On May 4, we'll elect a new president, vice president, recording secretary, and board member. Very soon, I'll be convening a nominating committee, in accordance with our bylaws, whose job will be to present a slate of candidates. (Our current treasurer and membership secretary have kindly offered to stand for re-election.) If you've been thinking of getting more involved in the BSCL, I encourage you to consider standing for election to one of these positions. Please let me know if you are interested so I can share your name with the nominating committee.
In other developments, I'm pleased to announce that Teresa Saunders and Theresa Schweser have agreed to be the new co-publishers of the Barcroft News. They'll be responsible for picking up the newsletters from the printer and distributing them to the 25-plus Barcroft volunteers who bring them to your doorstep each month. Please join me in extending a big thank you to Teresa and Theresa — and to all the delivery volunteers.
Finally, be sure to join us at the community house at 7:30 p.m. on March 2 for our next monthly meeting. Our guest will be a staff member from the office of Rep. Don Beyer. See you then.
