There is a $23 million bond referendum, for the purposes of upgrading substandard kitchen facilities in several schools, enhancing security at school entrances, and improvements to the Heights building (site of H-B Woodlawn and the Shriver program), specifically to add a parking structure, improve access for the Shriver students, and construct a community field.
Presentation:
The Arlington County Civic Federation (CivFed), it’s role in Arlington County, and current Initiatives; presented by Nicole Merlene, Civic Federation Vice President
This century old Federation has representatives from all Arlington’s neighborhoods. It’s run by a Board and has several permanent committees. It produces resolutions to express the will of the membership and holds discussion panels to foster communication between members and the County government. Outreach programs are underway. Recent efforts include a diversity initiative. Ms Merlene is compiling a list of contact points to improve access to apartment/condo buildings; she will share what she finds with us. Barcroft has 591 units in such buildings. There will be a “Missing Middle” feedback opportunity for CivFed. It does not hold primary debates, but does sponsor general election debates.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM. Attendance: 12
